Spill the tea, hun.
Whether she meant to or not, Demi Lovato released the sexiest song of the summer with her bi-curious banger "Cool For The Summer".
The song, which was produced by Max Martin, was a sharp departure from the singer's previous work. Rather than focusing on self-help, life's struggles and empowerment, the song is a sultry jam to get anyone in the mood, all breathy vocals and pounding synths.
However, it's not all been as simple as writhing around on a bed in a swimming costume. First people accused Demi of copying Katy Perry (seriously, can't women just do their thing without being compared to each other?!), and now people are dragging the singer for her sexy VMAs performance.
Taking to Twitter to lament the issue (of course), Demi had some things to say...
Cool For The Summer may not "save kid's lives" or "inspire" but I'd say Skyscraper & Warrior have done a pretty good job of helping people— Demi Lovato (@ddlovato) September 4, 2015
cope with mental illness. VMA's are sexy and fun. There's a time and place for everything.— Demi Lovato (@ddlovato) September 4, 2015
I'm learning so much every day by this new chapter in my life. I'm no longer the victim. I am the survivor.— Demi Lovato (@ddlovato) September 4, 2015
What's wrong with being #Confident?— Demi Lovato (@ddlovato) September 4, 2015
We don't necessarily think that people don't find "Cool For The Summer" inspirational.
But all jokes aside, "Cool For The Summer" is a total jam and the song's themes of same sex attraction will definitely speak to some people. Also, what's wrong with expressing your sexuality and owning your body, eh? We'd say that's pretty damn inspiring.
