When you're not problematic at all. You're just actually funny.
We can't get enough of the YouTube community's talented, often under-appreciated, creators of colour so we're continuing with our weekly series highlighting the best and the brightest. Last week we got very excited about the awesome talent of African American, vlogger, Kat Blaque and her incredible social voice. This week, Nathan Zedd, a YouTuber who is actually funny (unlike so many others), is majorly catching our eye.
He is an 18 year old creator killing the social commentary game. Like many YouTubers, Nathan also has a pretty large Vine following. He has nearly 700,000 followers on Vine and has been vlogging as TheThirdPew since 2011. His YouTube following is 400,000 subscribers strong and translates to similarly healthy Twitter and Instagram numbers.
But, why do we love Nathan? His irreverent commentary on internet trends and social issues manage to keep viewers very entertained while introducing them to different world views.
nathan zed's videos tackle contemporary social issues while incorporating comedy so flawlessly; satire done right. goat of youtube— teacup (@paradisel0vexo) December 28, 2015
Nathan's specialty is common sense. He doesn't come up with elaborate sketches or insane pranks. Nathan's voice is hilarious, succinct, and very insightful.
Nathan is clearly great at speaking his mind and isn't afraid to turn a tense topic into a humorous one.

His rebuttal to Nash Grier's "WHAT GUYS LOOK FOR IN GIRLS" video is one of his most watched videos and it's obvious why. Without being nasty or horrible to Grier, Nathan destroys everything said in the original video, point by point, and with the type of rationale that makes you need a seat afterward. Not to mention the fact that Nathan is also an ace at twitter and Instagram.

Nathan goes against the grain of so many YouTube "comedians" who purposefully try to offend, degrade, and shock audiences into viewing their material. The 18 year old has built a real audience of genuine fans and supporters who like and respect his content. He understands the platform better than people who have been doing it twice as long as he has and it's definitely paying off.
