What really does happen if a tree falls in a forrest and no one is there to hear it...
Pia Mia is an amazing popstar. This is fact. Would you like an example? Here's her rather enjoyable bop "Do It Again".
Seriously, what a low-key banger.
It seems, too, that we're not the only ones to have a bit of a thing for Pia, as the video for "Do It Again" has been viewed 106 million times on YouTube, as well as cracking the top ten in the UK and the Billboard Hot 100 in the US.
Pia Mia's next single "Touch" is also a proper banger, too, with its tropical tinged production and killer hooks. Basically, Pia Mia is on the road to pop superstardom and that's very exciting indeed.
We've already done some digging on the girl herself, but what better way to get totally acquainted with someone than to ask them a bunch of random questions in a random order. So, that's what we did and here's what happened...
PopBuzz: Hello Pia, how are you?
Pia Mia: I'm good thanks. Just chilling.
PB: Are you ready to do some quick fire questions?
PB: What’s your favourite thing about London?
PM: Besides the amazing people? The tea.
PB: You like bandanas. What’s your favourite bandana?
PM: Red is my favourite colour, so the red one is for sure my favourite. But I have them in, like, every colour.
PB: What’s your favourite Instagram Filter?
PM: I use the VSCO filters and I like a bunch of them. It kind of depends on the lighting on the photo, too, you know?
PB: We do. How long is too long for a snapchat story?
PM: See, I don't have the answer to that because my stories are sometimes literally 30 minutes long. I don't even know how they get that long.
PB: That is quite long.
PM: It's, like, 2000 seconds. People send me screen grabs of the little timer counting down.
PB: What do you do when you accidentally receive a nude meant for someone else what do you do?
PM: That hasn't happened to me yet! I hope it doesn't happen.
PB: Hypothetically then?
PM: I'd be like, "Very nice. That looks really good. Thanks."
PB: Thank you so much for a big picture of your penis.
PM: Oh my god.
PB: In the words of Xtina and yourself, what does a girl want?
PM: A girl wants to be treated like a princess, to go on adventures, to be taken to the ice cream shop, surprised with minions. We want to be taken to the beach with a whole picnic set up on the beach. The fairytale movie idea.
PB: How does Pia Mia “Do It Again?”
PM: So that song for me wasn't about a one night stand it was more about wanting to be more than friends with someone. I guess how we do it again is just to hope for the best, wear some cute outfits and always smell good.
PB: Strong. If you could only drink Pumpkin Spiced Lattes or gin forever which would you pick?
PM: Did you say gin? I don't know if I've had a pumpkin spiced latte, but I'd probably say the latte.
PB: What did you last dream about?
PM: It was actually on the way over to the UK. I was on the airplane and I had a dream about being on an airplane. This little old lady couldn't get her seatbelt on and we were descending. So I undid my seatbelt, even though all the flight attendants were like, "NO! Take your seat!", and tried to help this lady put her seatbelt on and then I woke up. I was like, "Oh shoot!" because I was actually on an airplane, which was scary. It's quite a meta dream.
PB: Can you ever flash too much skin?
PM: I don't think so. I grew up on the Island of Guam, so I grew up with the idea that having little clothes on doesn't really mean that something is inappropriate. I think people can show as much skin as they want.
PB: It's just being practical when you're hot.
PB: What was the last thing you googled?
PM: It was probably a good restaurant. Everyone talks about how the food in the UK is really good, so we're always online trying to find the best places to go.
PB: When do you think Rihanna’s album will drop?
PM: I'm not sure. She just dropped her cover art, so I'm guessing soon...
PB: Do chart positions matter?
PM: They don't really matter to me. I just like to listen to good music. Of course I look at the charts and see what's on there, but some songs I love don't make the chart, you know?
PB: I know exactly what you mean. Would you write a song with/for Britney Spears?
PM: Yeah, I LOVE Britney Spears. I'm obsessed with her.
PB: Why is YouTube the best platform for new musicians?
PM: I think it's the best because it gives people the opportunity to share their talents and gift with the whole world. I grew up on the island of Guam and I started singing when I was eight years old. If it wasn't for YouTube really giving me exposure....When you get to see the response that people have to your videos on YouTube it's really encouraging. Especially when you have a dream but you don't know how to go about achieving it. It was great for me to connect with people, and it was a big part of me pushing for this dream when I was younger. It encouraged me.
PB: What’s your favourite candy?
PM: I love Kit Kat bars.
PB: Side question: have you had the flavoured ones?
PM: We have a few in the states. But in Japan they have the green tea Kit Kat bars. We fly to Japan to get home to Guam, so anytime we fly through we buy boxes of them.
PB: Would you take Hilary Clinton to Disneyland?
PM: I don't know.
PB: What’s your squad song?
PM: Probably "Again" by Fetty Wap. I'm just obsessed with him. We had an appearance at one of the clubs here and Fetty Wap came on and we were going in. Everyone was screaming the song at the top of their lungs.
PB: Would you ever subtweet someone?
PM: Yeah, I think so. Honestly, my Twitter is full of tweets of stuff that I've written in my journal and things like that. So I've subtweeted a lot of times.
PB: Is Pitbull bae or Nah?
PM: I think Pitbull's music is dope, but I don't know if he's bae.
PB: What is your best song?
PM: I guess you guys are going to have to wait and see. I don't want to reveal it. It's about to come...
PB: If a tree falls and no one is there to hear it, does it make a sound?
PM: Ok, this is something I've googled before. I think it makes a sound, but if no one is there to hear it I guess it doesn't make a sound, right, because no one is there to hear it so there is no sound. Right? What is the answer to this question because I've been trying to work it out for the longest time.
PB: I think, scientifically, it would make a sound because of the vibrations. But whether that sound is digested is different.
PM: Yeah...It's crazy the amount of hours my friends and I have argued about whether it makes a sound or not. That's such a good question.
PB: Thank you! Who was your first celeb crush?
PM: Jesse McCartney. I was so young when I was listening to his music that I don't even remember which ones were my favourite songs. I just remember having his gigantic face on a poster, which I had in my room.
PB: Amazing. When is the right time to mute or leave a Whatsapp group?
PM: Probably when people start talking smack. I don't like to be involved in that, so I'd probably leave at that point.
PB: How many grapes can you fit in your mouth?
PM: I think it depends on the size of the grape. You know, sometimes there's really tiny grapes and sometimes there's huge ones.
PB: That's true, but let's think about the average green grape.
PM: Maybe, like, 20?
PB: 20 sounds a lot.
PM: Oh my god, I'd probably just die trying to do this.
PB: What makes an amazing popstar?
PM: I think honesty and someone who can share their passion and real journey. With how much social media there is I think it's really easy for people to read whether something's real or not. I think being a huge popstar is about sharing your whole life with everyone so that every problem you go through you're able to share that with someone else so they know things can get better. It's honesty.
PB: What’s something you’ve never told anyone before?
PM: I'm such a shy person that if I don't get something off my chest it really affects me. I'm really close to my parents, so I tell them everything. If I had to keep something inside and not tell anyone I don't know how I'd deal with that. I don't know that I'd do very well.
PB: Where would you go if you had a time machine?
PM: I'd go back to the first time I stepped out on stage and re-live that moment. Music is something that I never thought I'd do. I started singing when I was eight in the school musical for Cinderella just by chance. I didn't want to miss out and I tried out because friends were doing it and I ended up getting Cinderella. So I'd go back to that, because that was the moment I just knew that it was what I wanted.
PB: If your new single "Touch" were an emoji what would it be?
PM: Oooh, this is a good one! Maybe the the moneky covering it's mouth because it's like "hehe, touch me". Or one of the funny hand emojis. Or maybe the girl with her hand up.
