There's trouble in Britpop paradise as the older generation turns on the new.
Today in "music legends fall a bit out of touch", Noel Gallagher has hit out at Ed Sheeran, in response to his headlining Wembley show in July.
The singer-songwriter will be playing three 80,000-capacity dates at the venue; and the former Oasis frontman doesn't love what this apparently means for the state of music.
"I don't think I can live in a world where that's even possible. When you hear that kind of polished pop and then there's a ginger guy with a f**king guitar it seems subversive, but it's f**king not."Noel Gallagher, NME
Easy Noel, you're not about to pull a Brian Harvey on us now, are you?
In response to Independent Music's report on Noel's statement, Ed clapped back about as gracefully as you can in that situation.
@IndyMusic i can live in it, its really enjoyable— Ed Sheeran (@edsheeran) January 13, 2015
It must be pretty strange when an artist that you grew up with, and quite possibly looked up to, treats you like "the problem with music today". But kudos to Ed for handling it with a little more tact than his Britpop predecessor.
What a weird day. Anyway, here's "Wonderwall". Check out Ed's gorgeous cover of the iconic Oasis hit from 2011, because lol.
