You know how every year there is a Super Bowl and lots of commercials and exciting musical guests? I guess you could say it is like the sports version of SNL.
Either way, every year they get some big artist to perform at the event and it's a nice tradition. It seems though, that the excitement of it all has gone to someone's head because Katy Perry was asked to pay to perform at the Super Bowl Half Time Show.
Yes, you read that correctly. Instead of being paid to perform like how she is probably used to because music is how she makes money, Super Bowl organisers asked her to fork over a cheque.
Here's the thing. It's the same as if your boss said, "this is such a great place to work so instead of paying you, I think you should pay me." It just doesn't make sense.
So, of course, Katy Perry categorically refused such a ludicrous arrangement. In an interview with the Associated Press Katy said, "I put my foot down very early in the courtship. I said, 'Look guys, here's where I draw the line in the sand'."
Apparently also strong contenders for the Super Bowl honours were Rihanna and Coldplay who, presumably, were asked as well if they would be paying to perform at the Super Bowl.
More than 100 million people view the Super Bowl worldwide each year and the organisers have been known to charge advertisers millions of dollars for 30-second advertising spots during its broadcast.
But we can totally see why they'd want Katy Perry to pay for it.
