Dear Disney, you up for it? 'Cause we are!
Unless you've been living under a rock, you'll know that Frozen 2, the sequel to - lol, you guessed it - Frozen was announced sometime last year and fans have recently been campaigning for Disney to include a pretty huge LGBT storyline.
Twitter user Alexis Isabel created the hashtag #GiveElsaAGirlfriend at the beginning of May. After a few days, the conversation had been blown wide open, with supporters from all over the world piling even more pressure on Disney to deliver the goods.
I hope Disney makes Elsa a lesbian princess imagine how iconic that would be— Alexis Isabel (@lexi4prez) May 1, 2016
Alexis wrote a really great essay for MTV about why she started the hashtag, where she explains that "many in the LGBT community view this movie as a metaphor for the experience of coming out and accepting who you are." The thought of having strong and independent Elsa ultimately ending up in a classic Disney boy-girl love story didn't sit well with her or her followers.

#GiveElsaAGirlfriend normalising a f/f relationship will help queer young kids accept & understand their sexuality, that rep is so important— tammy (@octaviabIake) May 1, 2016
Making a kids movie with a queer character won't make your kids gay it will teach them that love comes in many forms #GiveElsaAGirlfriend— jade || 78 (@DROPDEADDlXON) May 1, 2016
Frozen director Chris Buck already dropped a few hints on what might happen in Frozen 2. “We will tackle other issues that, I think, are out there today that boys and girls, men and women, are dealing with. I think we’re very aware of what is happening in society.” he told MTV News.
